Let’s Get Physical…Our ‘Future’ depends on it!

// August 12th, 2010 // No Comments » // Fitness, Mind/Body/inspiration, Running, Shakeology, Sirius Nutrition, Team Beachbody, Verve/Vemma Next, wellness

I hand out my business cards to folks, they look at it and say…”I ain’t running… I don’t run!…I don’t workout! ” This week I even had someone tell me he doesn’t eat fruits or vegetables. I don’t expect everyone to be in love with fitness and health and have the same passion as I do. Considering the negative trends of obesity and preventable health related diseases and deaths, I would expect people to be a little more mindful of how they treat their bodies. Overeating, lack of exercise, dependency on prescription drugs, smoking, excessive drinking (alcohol) are just a few of the issues that plague this society and are hurting the growth and development of our future generations.

I have kids and I don’t want to outlive them. An old Chinese Proverb states…‘To outlive one’s children is a curse of the gods.’ Sadly this may become an unfortunate trend. This trend be can be reversed through exercise. Now we, as the adults have to get ourselves moving and be positive role models (in Health) for our youth. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, you need Physical Activity to:
* Maintain weight.
* Reduce high blood pressure.
* Reduce risk for type 2 diabetes, heart attack, stroke, and several forms of cancer.
* Reduce arthritis pain and associated disability.
* Reduce risk for osteoporosis and falls.
* Reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety.

This is why I do what I do. I really care about the well being of others and I will do anything in my power to make sure I assist as many people start their journey towards wellness and be a catalyst towards change in their lives. Boot Camps, Run Clubs, Fitness classes, Fitness advice, Nutritional advice and most importantly…MOTIVATION is what I will offer to those willing to accept it!

Sirius Fitness & San Dieguito Half Marathon and 5K Run/Walk

// December 14th, 2009 // No Comments » // Fitness, Running

We will be running the San Dieguito Half Marathon and 5K Run/Walk on Sunday February 14, 2009 and YOU can join us too! We have been running 5k’s, 10k’s and having a good time whether supporting causes like the Jingle Bell 5K Run/Walk for Arthritis or The Susan Komen Breast Cancer Run/Walk or just running up Cowles Mountain! But now we are getting ready for our first Half Marathon and we have to take it up a notch! We will be training every week working our way up to those 13.1 miles and loving every minute of it. (not really) ;-) We are doing this to eventually get ready for San Diego’s “Granddaddy of them all”…The San Diego Rock & Roll Marathon. (That one scares me) I promised myself when I turned 40 this year that I would run a Marathon before I turned 41 and I will not let myself down! Wish us luck and pray for us (if you’re the praying type) because we know it won’t be easy.

If you are from San Diego and want to join a run club of folks that meetup, run, go to Fitness Boot Camps, run stairs, run mountains, etc… Join us! (Click Here) All fitness levels are represented in our group!logo_2010

A Jingle Bell Run/Walk Video from Nasara (’Tis the season for giving!)

JBR-t-shirt with Santa

Bells will be ringing this holiday season as thousands of runners and walkers hit the nation’s pavements, pathways and parks this winter to fight arthritis, the nation’s most common cause of disability.

I will be one of those people, tying jingle bells to my shoelaces to participate in the Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis, a 5K fun run/walk to benefit the Arthritis Foundation. And YOU can help, too!

‘Tis the season for giving! Won’t you sponsor me in my effort to raise funds to fight arthritis? Arthritis affects more than 46 million Americans, including 300,000 children, costing the U.S economy over $128 billion annually. The Arthritis Foundation needs our help.

Please visit my Web page to join my team or make a secure, online contribution to help me reach my fundraising goal. The donations I raise will help fund the Arthritis Foundation’s mission to prevent, control and cure arthritis.
