Let’s Get Physical…Our ‘Future’ depends on it!
// August 12th, 2010 // No Comments » // Fitness, Mind/Body/inspiration, Running, Shakeology, Sirius Nutrition, Team Beachbody, Verve/Vemma Next, wellness
I hand out my business cards to folks, they look at it and say…”I ain’t running… I don’t run!…I don’t workout! ” This week I even had someone tell me he doesn’t eat fruits or vegetables. I don’t expect everyone to be in love with fitness and health and have the same passion as I do. Considering the negative trends of obesity and preventable health related diseases and deaths, I would expect people to be a little more mindful of how they treat their bodies. Overeating, lack of exercise, dependency on prescription drugs, smoking, excessive drinking (alcohol) are just a few of the issues that plague this society and are hurting the growth and development of our future generations.
I have kids and I don’t want to outlive them. An old Chinese Proverb states…‘To outlive one’s children is a curse of the gods.’ Sadly this may become an unfortunate trend. This trend be can be reversed through exercise. Now we, as the adults have to get ourselves moving and be positive role models (in Health) for our youth. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, you need Physical Activity to:
* Maintain weight.
* Reduce high blood pressure.
* Reduce risk for type 2 diabetes, heart attack, stroke, and several forms of cancer.
* Reduce arthritis pain and associated disability.
* Reduce risk for osteoporosis and falls.
* Reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety.
This is why I do what I do. I really care about the well being of others and I will do anything in my power to make sure I assist as many people start their journey towards wellness and be a catalyst towards change in their lives. Boot Camps, Run Clubs, Fitness classes, Fitness advice, Nutritional advice and most importantly…MOTIVATION is what I will offer to those willing to accept it!

My Shakeology Cleanse Day 3
// May 12th, 2010 // No Comments » // Shakeology, Sirius Nutrition, Team Beachbody, wellness
Yeah! I’m finished with my 3-Day cleanse! Unlike the 30-Day Master Cleanse I did a year and a half ago, this one was much easier. What I did notice about this cleanse was the fact that the nutrients in the Shakeology really sustained me and not once did I fell weak or tired. I also love the fact that it didn’t compromise my regular workouts (I did ChaLean Extreme today and my Insanity/P90X hybrid w/ my Boot Camp Class) or the classes I teach! I didn’t do it to lose weight…I wanted to clean out my system and in the process I did happen to lose 8 pounds. (Yay for me!) I’m glad to see that I have inspired others to try the cleanse and use it as a “Springboard” for their new eating habits.
**I’ll be starting another 3-Day next week, so I can support my folks who are starting on the 17th of May. I think I’ll do a Video blog for that week. SEE YOU THEN!!**

My Shakeology Cleanse Day 2
// May 11th, 2010 // 1 Comment » // Shakeology, Sirius Nutrition, Team Beachbody
Well today I started the day with P90X Plyometrics with a friend at about 5:30am. It was rough, but considering I’ve been doing the cleanse it was only rough because the workout was rough. PHYSICALLY, I felt good and was full of energy! After scarfing down my first Shakeology Chocolate Shake (w/ water only) after the workout (7am) I proceeded to go to work and deal with the kids. I teach PE, but we’ve been testing this week so I had to act as a proctor and make sure they were “doing the right thing” while taking their test. Ok…back to the cleanse-> I had some mango pieces for a snack (10am) and about 2.5 hours later (12:30) I had my second Shakeology (w/ water only)! I was just thinking that I can’t wait until this cleanse is over so I could start adding my peanut butter and banana to it.
Now I have to say that this cleanse is not too difficult for me because last year I did a 30-day “Master Cleanse” which was an adventure! Both are effective, but with this cleanse the amount of nutrients that are “flooding” your body is incredible! JUST TAKE A LOOK->SHAKEOLOGY
At about 3pm I ate two bananas and didn’t need to eat again until after I taught Boot Camp at 7:30pm! I gave ALL the participants a sample and I drank my 8 ounces. When I got home I ate a Morningstar Griller Chick’n pattie and called it a night. Of course I drank water throughout the day and had no cravings, headaches or issues usually involved with cleansing. I probably could go for five days, but since I’m doing it one more ’round’ next week I’ll back off after tomorrow.
